The annual Bama Coast Cruisin’ will rumble into town April 23 and 24. It will be easy to find, as The Beach Express, part of Alabama’s Coastal Connection Scenic Byway, travels through the The Wharf before crossing the Intracoastal Waterway.
Exhibits for Discovery Day include marine-themed games, touch tables, and arts and crafts. Community agencies will be there, as well as the Azalea Trail Maids and Smokey the Bear.
Imagine, if you will, a southern estate sitting on 65 acres of lush gardens. An estate with more than 250,000 vibrant azaleas, 2,000 rose plants representing 36 varieties, hydrangeas, beautiful tropical plants, and a 10,500-square-foot home to tour. You don’t have to imagine it, though. Just plan a visit to Bellingrath Gardens and Home this spring.
Are you ready to come out and play? One of the most versatile attractions along Alabama’s Coastal Connection is Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley. Taking a short drive from the Foley Beach Express rewards you with more than 500 acres to explore.
Along Alabama’s Coastal Connection Scenic Byway, the Audubon Bird Sanctuary on Dauphin Island is well known for its variety of feathered visitors. As a matter of fact, of the 445 species of birds documented in Alabama, 95% of them have been spotted on Dauphin Island. With 137 acres of maritime forest, dunes and swamps, the sanctuary provides a safe habitat for our winged friends.
