kayaking at Graham Creek Nature PreserveAre you ready to come out and play? One of the most versatile attractions along Alabama’s Coastal Connection is Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley. Taking a short drive from the Foley Beach Express rewards you with more than 500 acres to explore.

Graham Creek Nature Preserve features an array of outdoor activities for family fun. The extensive trail system includes a 5K cross-country trail and an ADA-compliant trail where visitors can view the headwaters of Graham Creek. Bring your hiking boots or off-road bicycle and feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere on miles of marked and unmarked trails. Download a trail map or pick one up in the Graham Creek Interpretive Center or either of two trail kiosks in the preserve.

To explore by water, make your way to the preserve’s canoe and kayak launch with a fixed ramp and floating dock. A scenic two-mile paddle in a winding creek takes you to Wolf Bay. Gliding through the smooth waters here gives you a chance to view the natural habitat from a different perspective. We’re sure you’ll find plenty of coastal wildlife along the way.

Graham Creek Nature Preserve is home to three 18-basket disc golf courses with novice and amateur concrete tee pads. If you’re a beginner, look for the Prairie Course. The more advanced players or pros should check out the Preserve Course. The newest of the three is a challenging layout located in the woods. The maps and scorecards can be downloaded from the website.

The preserve offers an Indoor/Outdoor Interpretive Center, a play garden, the Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom, clean restroom facilities and outdoor showers. It is definitely a stop worth making as you travel the byway.
