Are you someone who likes to plan ahead, already thinking of spring travels? Alabama’s Coastal Connection Scenic Byway is great ANY time of year. But after a chilly winter, the outlook of a warm, sunny, spring day always sounds appealing.

In just a few weeks, brown roadsides, crunchy flowerbeds and bare tree limbs will give way to green sprouts and fresh buds blooming. It’s a welcome sight each year, especially when you pair it with emerald green waters and bright blue skies. So we’d like to plant a few seeds of thought to get your travel itinerary prepared.

An ideal way to start your spring trip is by visiting Bellingrath Gardens. Hot pink azaleas line your path as you wind in and out of lush gardens, with flora and fauna everywhere you look.

Spring fishing in Mobile Bay and Weeks Bay will bring redfish, speckled trout and black drum your way. Don’t pass up an excursion with one of the area’s many inshore fishing captains, as they know just where to take you for the best catch.

The season’s temperatures here are usually mild, with cool evenings warming up nicely to sun-soaked afternoons perfect for sunbathing and splashing in the cool Gulf of Mexico.

Spring on the Alabama byway is a magical time of year, so today is the day to start planning your getaway along Alabama’s Coastal Connection.
