School’s out for summer, finally! All along the Alabama Coastal Connection, we’ve got ways to keep the kids entertained all summer long. Here are some of our favorite ways to engage the little ones when the temperatures warm up.
Get wet
Our white sand beaches and clear blue waters are a no-brainer, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy the summer out on the water along the Alabama Coastal Connection. Go for a swim or build a sandcastle in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Cast your line in the lakes and rivers along the Alabama Bass Trail. Take a nature cruise and spot dolphins along the coast. Whether by boat, canoe, kayak, paddle board or Jet Ski, kids will love exploring Alabama’s waters in a variety of ways.
Get cultured
The Alabama Coastal Connection is dotted with free and affordable museums where kids can connect with our local culture. Experience the changing exhibits at the Fairhope Museum of History, learn all about Foley’s railroad roots, or explore how Gulf Shores went from a small fishing village to a tourist destination at the Gulf Shores Museum. Art, history and culture converge along Alabama’s Coastal Connection if you know where to look!
Get schooled
There’s no better way to understand Alabama than to visit its historical landmarks. Learn about Alabama’s military history and its role in the Civil War at Fort Morgan and Fort Gaines along the coast. Both of these historic sites are perfect for all-day excursions, and offer reenactments, guided tours and special events year-round. A little further north lies the USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park. This stop in Mobile is a great way to spend the day learning all about this important WWII battleship and those who served on it.
Nothing beats a relaxing summer, but just because the kids aren’t in the classroom doesn’t mean learning has to stop. For an educational and fun summer, hit the Alabama Coastal Connection with your little ones.
