Get ready for fireworks, hamburgers and hot dogs, stars and stripes, and balmy Alabama nights. The summer’s biggest celebration is just around the corner, and there are plenty of ways to enjoy your Fourth of July weekend along Alabama’s Coastal Connection.

Mark your calendar Monday, July 3, for the Independence Day Celebration at The Wharf in Orange Beach. Main Street will be lined with activities for the kids from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., including a trampoline jumper, bouncy house, surf simulator, rock wall, face painting, games, prizes and more! Stick around Main Street for a perfect view of the Spectra Sound and Light Spectacular in red, white and blue and, of course, the fantastic fireworks display! Admission to this event is free, but some kids’ activities range in cost from five to ten dollars.

If you haven’t yet explored Fort Morgan, now’s your chance! Built between 1819 and 1833 where the bay meets the Gulf of Mexico, this U.S. Army-built fort played a significant role in the Civil War, the Spanish-American War and World Wars I and II.

On July 1, Fort Morgan will host its Salute to American Independence. Historians dressed in period uniforms will weave the stories of men and women stationed there, while the living history staff leads special tours and historic weapons demonstrations followed by artillery shoots. Stay for the day and enjoy the surrounding nature scenes or relax on the beach!

No matter how you choose to spend your Fourth of July, Alabama’s Coastal Connection provides the perfect backdrop for good times with friends and family. How are you celebrating America’s 241st birthday this year?
