Ever wonder what life on the bayou is like? If you live in or plan to visit Bayou La Batre on Oct. 10, now’s the chance to find out! This year’s Paddle Bayou La Batre event kicks off at 8 a.m. and you’re invited! Sponsored by the Bayou La Batre-Coden Historical Foundation, The City of Bayou La Batre, Instrument Technical Services Inc. and RoadID, this kayak event is a fantastic waterside tour!

Register with the Bayou La Batre-Coden Historical Foundation and reserve your two-person canoe ($50 rental, if needed) or one-person kayak ($35 to rent) now! The registration price is $25 per person; tickets are non-refundable. To order an event shirt, purchase one or more for only $20 each.

What can you expect? Paddlers will take in the bayou’s natural scenery and see working shipyards with shrimp boats, oyster skiffs and much more. You’ll also hear about the area’s history and see interesting landmarks. After the six-mile paddle trip is over, you’ll enjoy some Bayou cuisine and celebrate Bayou heritage! The proceeds from Paddle Bayou La Batre go to three organizations, including the Alma Bryant High School Archery Team.

Check-in for the 9 a.m. paddle begins at 8 a.m., the last shuttle heading to the take-off site leaves at 8:35 a.m., and lunch is served at 12:30 p.m. Paddle Bayou La Batre ends at 2 p.m. with door prizes and a raffle drawing.

Get back to nature while you help the Bayou La Batre-Coden Historical Foundation bring awareness and preservation to our local history. Let’s go paddle!

You can register online or use the Contact the Organizer tab on the event page. Check-in and launch are at 14772 State Dock Road, Bayou La Batre, off Alabama’s Coastal Connection.
