Who knew a trip to the Gulf Coast could also provide you with a trip around the world, or, at least a culinary trip around the world? Recreational culinary classes are back this summer by popular demand at Faulkner State Community College in Gulf Shores.

From Provencal cuisine to California Wine Country, you’ll get a glimpse into the art of both international and regional cuisine. The culinary school instructors will prepare delectable dishes in class, and they will prepare you with the knowledge to make some of these same dishes in your home, including Prosciutto-Wrapped Fuji Apples with a Sour Cherry-Balsamic Glaze and Tarragon Green Bean Salad.

Classes offered include ‘Summer in Provence,’ ‘Brunch,’ ‘American Regional Favorites: California Wine Country’ and ‘Sushi Making.’ Each class is $60. Instructors teach not only how to make the dishes, but also the history behind the region the cuisine is from. Dates and times vary for each class, so be sure to take a look at the schedule and register online.

When you’re not in class, sink your teeth into some fresh, Gulf Coast seafood. After all, vacations are meant for eating!
