DAY 1

Go to Dauphin Island and enjoy a taste of the coast. After you wander along the historic beaches, head to Lighthouse Bakery at 919 Chaumont Ave., voted #2 Best Restaurant on Dauphin Island by TripAdvisor. Warm pastries, pigs in a blanket and fresh-brewed mochaccinos make this a popular spot for locals and island visitors.

For a hearty lunch, there’s Barnacle Bill’s, one of the island’s most popular dining spots. Take a seat by the water and order a basket of steamed shrimp. Contact Barnacle Bill’s at 251-861-8300, or pop this address into your GPS: 698 Lemoyne Dr. Then take a charter trip and see the dolphins!.

When you return, hunker down at Islanders Restaurant, 1504 Bienville Blvd., for Shrimp and Grits – or ask for the Catch of the Day, always fresh, right off the boat!

DAY 2

Exploring the Eastern Shore? You’ll need to fuel up before you hit the Eastern Shore Trail. Begin with a tasty breakfast at East Shore Café, 1506 Main St. in Daphne. They open at 6:30 a.m. and serve a delicious meal!

After you’ve shopped, toured and explored the art galleries, have lunch at Dragonfly Food Bar to enjoy the mouthwatering creations of Chef Doug Kerr. If you like spicy, order Kerr’s Dragon Breath – it’s a complex pepper sauce that makes these dishes sing. Everything is made locally and full of scrumptious flavor. Call 251-990-5722 for more information, then swing by 319 Fairhope Ave. for a palate-pleasing experience.
