ATTRACTIONS
Attractions World-class gardens and Civil War forts top the list of major attractions along Alabama’s Coastal Connection. But with a setting like this—inland farmlands, small Southern towns, oak-lined shores of Mobile Bay and sugar-white sands of the Gulf of Mexico—there are plenty of one-of-a-kind attractions to visit along the way. Our wildlife preserves, historic sites and heritage museums are a good way to peer into our coastal culture and they are a great starting point for your journey. Take a look at these special places and pick your favorites—or better yet, stay long enough to visit them all! load(‘http://www.gulfshores.com/partners/xml_feed.aspx?type=Byway_Attractions’); $xsl1 = new DOMDocument; $xsl1->load(‘https://alabamascoastalconnection.com/wp-content/byway.xsl’); $xsl2 = new DOMDocument; $xsl2->load(‘https://alabamascoastalconnection.com/wp-content/byway.xsl’, LIBXML_NOCDATA); $proc = new XSLTProcessor; $proc->importStyleSheet($xsl1); echo $proc->transformToXML($xml); ?>
COMMUNITIES
Communities The communities along Alabama’s Coastal Connection are linked by more than the byway. They each have their own connections to the land and the water. Farming and fishing are part of the culture here. Quaint downtowns still bustle. Beachfront resort areas have grown from what began as popular local escapes. Now many have discovered all the natural beauty and recreational opportunities Alabama’s coast has to offer. Shrimp boats of Bayou La Batre, farmlands of Elberta and sunsets over the bay from Fairhope are just a few of the sights to see every day.
