Farmers markets provide a fun way to shop while also giving small businesses the opportunity to sell their products and build a following. The friendly interaction between vendors and customers is a welcome part of the experience. So follow along to learn about just two of the farmers markets along Alabama’s Coastal Connection Scenic Byway.
The Coastal Alabama Farmers and Fishermens Market is located in Foley and is open year-round on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. You’ll find local fruits, vegetables, seafood, handmade arts and crafts, and homemade food. The market is a fully covered facility, allowing it to be open rain or shine.
If you will be spending some weekend time in the Mobile area, visit Market In The Park during the spring, summer and fall. The fall hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. until noon each Saturday from October 16 through November 20. Shop the fresh produce, fruit, jams and preserves, bread, honey and much more that will have your mouth watering. You may also find works by local artisans and be treated to live music. Walking once through Market In The Park will convince you to return week after week.
Farmers markets are a great way to connect with and support the community and small businesses, as well as purchase local products. Plan now to visit one of these farmers markets this weekend – or any of the other markets found along the scenic byway.
