Gulf Coast gardeners, get excited! Wonderful Wednesdays are back at Bellingrath Gardens and Home.
Each summer, Bellingrath partners with guest lecturers and renowned members of the horticultural and gardening community to bring guests Wonderful Wednesdays, a workshop series beginning in June to help gardening enthusiasts make the most of Alabama’s long growing season.
June 14 is Kids Gulf Discovery Day at Bellingrath. Your little ones will love learning about the wildlife and ecology of the Gulf Coast from different local environmental organizations. Finish off the day with a WildNative Delta Safari cruise along the Fowl River!
The following week, on June 21, drop by for the Magnolia Cemetery Tour. Make sure to wear your walking shoes for this hour-long walk through the cemetery where Walter and Bessie Bellingrath are buried. You’ll learn about the cemetery’s distinctive funereal art and some of its notable inhabitants.
On June 28, head to Bellingrath for Roses for the Gulf Coast with James Mills, owner of K&M Roses in Mississippi. Discussion topics include new roses, Southern standards and his success with growing and selling Fortuniana-grafted roses for more than 20 years.
Wonderful Wednesdays workshops each cost $13 for adults, $7.50 for children and are free for Friends of Bellingrath members and children below age 4. To reserve your spot at one of these summer workshops, call 251.459.8864.
Bellingrath’s workshops will continue through the end of July, providing weekly opportunities to get in touch with nature all summer long. How will you connect with nature this summer along Alabama’s Coastal Connection?
