Summer is the season that usually comes to mind when thinking of a trip to the coast. If you haven’t made a fall trip to the southern tip of Alabama, you are missing out on a great time to be here.
These are our five favorite things to do in autumn on Alabama’s Coastal Connection Scenic Byway.
- Pitch a tent or bring your RV to one of the many campsites along the byway. The cool nights and warm days of fall make tent camping especially nice. From Meaher State Park on north Mobile Bay to Gulf State Park at the beach in Gulf Shores, you’ll find numerous camping options as you travel the ACC.
- Explore the USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile. In addition to the “Mighty A,” peep inside the submarine USS DRUM and see historic and rare aircraft and military transports and equipment in the park.
- Surf fish along Alabama’s beautiful white-sand beaches.
- Enjoy a stroll with amazing views of Mobile Bay along the Eastern Shore Trail in Daphne.
- The Fall Outdoor Cascading Chrysanthemums display at Bellingrath Gardens and Home is a must-see fall event.
