Become a Junior Zookeeper for a day as you go behind the scenes and get a crash course in Zookeeping 101!
Work alongside zookeepers to clean and feed contact barn animals, prepare enrichment for animals in the Americas area, including Boodah the American Black Bear, and participate in animal training sessions. General admission to the zoo is included. Offered Saturdays, 8:30 am – 12:30 pm
The Experience includes:
- From 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, work alongside one of the AGCZ keepers as a Junior Keeper for a Day.
- Each Junior Zookeeper will receive their own shirt to wear for the day (please identify size at checkout)
Junior Zookeepers will:
- Help clean and feed the contact barn animals
- Make enrichment for the day for animals around the Americas section, including Boodah, the American Black Bear
- Participate in a training session to learn how keepers help the animals participate in their own care and engage with the public.
The experience is limited to 1 child between 10 – 16 years of age.
Details:
- Must wear closed-toe shoes; You will not be able to participate if you do not.
- It is going to be a busy day, so be sure to bring along water and snacks for extra energy and hydration during your zoo experience.
- Please notify staff of any allergies that your child may have before this experience since they may be coming in contact with animal food items and grass hay.
- If your child requires any medications, they must be able to be responsible for them. (Please note: AGCZ staff cannot administer medications)
Each experience must be booked 48 hours in advance.
