Audubon Bird Sanctuary

Located on Dauphin Island, the Audubon Bird Sanctuary is the location of migrating birds, butterflies, fish, fauna, alligators, and more. Explore nature and wildlife of all types in the 137 acres of maritime forest, marshes, dunes, a lake, swamp, and beach. Hike down the three-mile trail to discover all the Audubon Bird Sanctuary offers.

Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge

Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge is located in Gulf Shores. Open year-round during daylight hours, you’ll enjoy hiking, fishing, photography, and wildlife observation during your visit. This wildlife refuge is one of Alabama’s last remaining undisturbed coastal habitats. More than 360 birds have been documented here, encouraging avid birders to bring their cameras and journals.

Graham Creek Nature Preserve

Along with the wildlife habitats throughout the 500-acre Graham Creek Nature Preserve, you will find an interpretive center to provide educational opportunities, a canoe/kayak launch, disc golf, playground, archery park, pavilion, and restroom. Hiking, biking, bird watching, and picnics are popular activities throughout the year.

The Alabama Aquarium at The Dauphin Island Sea Lab

Formerly known as the Estuarium, the Alabama Aquarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab highlights the four critical habitats of coastal Alabama. When visiting the aquarium, you will explore the Mobile Tensaw River Delta habitat, Mobile Bay habitat, the Barrier Islands habitat, and the Northern Gulf of Mexico habitat.

Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve

Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, located in Fairhope, is a public research and education facility. The interpretive center, indoor displays, and live animals encourage exploration. Whether on your own or via a guided tour, discover the wonders of the coastal area within these 6,000 acres of protected estuarine habitats.
