Many great art shows and festivals can be found in the small towns surrounding the byway, but there’s only one that dates back 65 years: The Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival.
This popular festival, like wine, keeps getting better with age! Hundreds of thousands of visitors – as well as both nationally recognized and local artists – gather together for a celebration of all things art.
More than 230 vendors meet in Fairhope to showcase their greatest works, and boy, are they talented. Categories include jewelry, mixed media, sculpture, painting, photography, pottery and ceramics, fiber, wood, functional crafts, watercolor, drawing and graphics.
We are so lucky that some of these talented artists call the Eastern Shore their home!
Wendy and Joe Edwards of Foley own Wendy Kay Designs. Stop by booth 2220 to browse their selection of handcrafted jewelry comprised of turquoise, leather and mixed metals.
If it’s a vibrant and whimsical painting you seek, browse the works of local artists Loran Chavez (Booth 6621), Linda Scott (Booth 213) and Larkin Peters (Booth 1111).
Craig Riches, a master sculpture artist from Silverhill, will showcase his portfolio including hammered copper, optical illusions pieces, and concrete and woven wire works at booth 3303-3304.
Trevor Clark is a sculpture artist whose specialty is wood – specifically beautiful handmade furniture. Stop by his booth 3310 and prepare to be amazed by the design and detail of his work.
Kendra Bennett, from right up the road in Daphne, will be at booth 5504, displaying her X-Acto knife art. Her ability to bring any item to life with just a little knife is extraordinary.
