Step back in time the next time you are along the byway. History buffs will want to visit the Fairhope Museum of History, where the city’s past is told via a number of exhibits, displays and programs.

The free-admission museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Part of the museum’s vision is to “acquire, protect, preserve, and value the historical objects that illustrate the history of Fairhope.” These objects help create compelling exhibits regarding Fairhope’s founders, the single tax theory, the town jail and the jubilee phenomenon.

Many of the pieces that reside at the museum were passed down through the generations and generously donated by the area’s residents.

The Fairhope Museum of History, located in the downtown area, allows you to dive into the culture of Fairhope and learn about the stories of the local community. The next time you are traveling along Alabama’s Coastal Connection Scenic Byway,  stop by to see what you might learn about this thriving city’s background.
