It’s holiday season and we couldn’t be happier! When we sit around hoping to digest Thanksgiving dinner quickly so we can have another piece of pie, our family discussions often turn to Christmas and the fun activities that surround that holiday. On Alabama’s Coastal Connection Scenic Byway, there is always something going on to celebrate the season.

Do you have a Christmas tradition? Is there something your family does or an event you attend each year during the holiday season? Each of the communities along the byway have their own celebrations. Take a look at a few of them and you may find a new tradition to add to your list.

  • Magic Christmas in Lights at Bellingrath Gardens and Home, Theodore, AL – November 27December 31, 59 p.m. nightly (closed December 25). Stroll through dazzling light displays that feature more than 1,100 set pieces, three million lights and 15 scenes through the 65-acre garden estate.
  • The Annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade, Gulf Shores, AL – December 11, starts at dusk at Tacky Jack’s Gulf Shores and travels east on the Intracoastal Waterway.
