As summer fades away, the colorful foods of autumn take over, tempting the eyes and palate. Feel free to give in to the plethora of seasonal fruits and vegetables at farmers markets along Alabama’s Coastal Connection Scenic Byway!
Some of the best and most nutritious local fall produce includes sweet potatoes, beets, winter squash, leafy greens, carrots and broccoli. (Markets will have much more than those items listed, but this is a good starting point.) Some of the local vendors, such as those at the Coastal Alabama Farmers and Fishermens Market, also sell fresh seafood straight from the Gulf of Mexico.
