Luscious green marshland, colorful chirping birds, vivid forestry and sparkling blue water are just a few of the brilliant sights the Alabama Coastal Connection Scenic Byway has to offer. With camera in hand, you’re sure to capture stunning images of the natural beauty of the Gulf Coast.

Mobile Bay makes for a nice subject to photograph, especially accompanied by a glowing sunrise or sunset. Catch pictures of the bay in Spanish Fort at the overlook, or just down the Eastern Shore Trail at the water’s edge underneath the causeway. Daphne’s Bayfront Park and the Fairhope Pier are also prime spots to capture the bay.

If you’re looking to photograph a variety of birds, you’ll discover plenty of spots along the ACC. Get a close look at wildlife by renting a canoe or kayak at the 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center and exploring the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. Or journey through Blakeley Island where many ponds draw in a variety of birds.

Finally, the beach. Whether it’s Gulf Shores, Orange Beach or Dauphin Island, you can usually find many creatures to photograph. From seagulls and crabs (for those with quick reflexes) to the more easily captured seashells and sand dollars, let your creativity flow.

Wanting a little more guidance? Look into local photography groups. The Eastern Shore Camera Club holds monthly meetings, and the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance offers classes as well.
