The Eastern Shore Trail weaves along the Scenic Byway, showcasing beautiful views of the water and towns it rolls through. Created by the Baldwin County Trailblazers, the 32-mile National Recreation Trail is frequented by walkers, runners and bicyclists who can often be seen rigorously pounding the pavement.

Whether you resolved to be more active in 2017 or not, a stroll on this path will not only get you moving, but will bring attention to gorgeous scenery you might otherwise drive by without notice.

The trail is mostly concrete and flat (especially south of the Fairhope Pier), making it easy to maneuver for anyone looking to venture out.

Below are a few entry points where you can park and jump on the trail:

  • USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park
  • Spanish Fort Scenic Overlook
  • Daphne Public Library or Daphne City Hall
  • Fairhope Pier or downtown Fairhope parking deck
  • Mullet Point Park

If you’re looking to get more involved, the Trailblazers are kicking off an Adopt-a-Mile program this year where groups, individuals and businesses can sign up to help maintain certain sections of the trail.  Visit the Eastern Shore Trailblazers website for more information.
