Take a stroll on one of Alabama’s Coastal Connection trails this fall

Fall is our favorite time to enjoy a walk on one of the many trails on Alabama’s Coastal Connection Scenic Byway. With such a wide selection, how do you choose which trail?

Go wild with wetlands

Part of the amazing diversity of the southernmost tip of Alabama is the wetlands in the coastal barrier habitats. These undeveloped lands also include beach dunes and maritime forests that offer protection for a multitude of wildlife, including migrating birds, the endangered beach mouse and nesting sea turtles.

Kayak the bays and waterways to view wildlife in its natural habitat

One of the best ways to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of our rivers and back bays is in a kayak. Gliding silently, close to the water, you’ll find yourself sharing space with a variety of wildlife. You might even spot a playful dolphin swimming nearby.
