Are you counting down the days until SEC football kicks off? We have a great football-season primer for you! August 15 to 18 is the annual SEC BeachFest held right on the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

This year’s starting lineup of legendary coaches attending the event includes College Football Hall of Fame Inductees such as Billy Brewer (Ole Miss), Frank Broyles (Arkansas), Vince Dooley (Georgia), Phillip Fulmer (Tennessee), Pat Dye (Auburn) Gene Stallings (Alabama) and  RC Slocum (Texas A&M).

New for 2013 is the SEC BeachFest Fishing Challenge, a charter fishing tournament where you can earn bragging rights for a year. Rack up some fishing stories with your football friends when you fish on SEC-themed charter boats during the tournament on Aug. 17. The entry fee is $200 per angler and includes a half-day chartered fishing trip followed by complimentary food and drinks, a t-shirt, weigh-in party at Wolf Bay Lodge, an SEC BeachFest ticket and the chance to win prizes! Also new this year is the Kid’s Pier Fishing Tournament on Aug. 18 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Gulf State Park Pier. The tournament is open to anglers ages 15 and younger and admission is free.

More events will be held throughout the weekend including the golf scramble, beach concerts, alumni happy hours and the FanZone Fueled by BP.
