Tucked behind the City Complex on Highway 161, the Orange Beach Indian & Sea Museum offers an eclectic look at local history. The building itself is an artifact of the past – a 1910 schoolhouse with its original furnishings.

Displays include artifacts and memorabilia dating back to the very first settlers in the area. Native American arrowheads and spearheads; a 100-pound cannonball shot from Fort Morgan: fishing and farming gear from centuries past and more. Many of the historic items, photographs and documents have been donated by families whose ancestors settled the surrounding areas.

Located at 25850 John M. Snook Ave. in Orange Beach, the museum is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free. For more information, go to www.gulfshores.com  or visit www.obparksandrec.com.
